Ms. Nova grew up in Evanston, IL and graduated from University of Wisconsin- Madison. After college, she cut her teeth in education while living in rural Paraguay for two years as a volunteer with the Peace Corps. When she returned to Chicago, she worked as an adult basic literacy and ESL instructor in a family literacy program before relocating to NYC to get her master’s in social studies education at Teachers College. Since then, she has taught social studies in two other public high schools in Brooklyn and as a CUNYStart instructor at BMCC, and KBCC. Ms. Nova strongly believes that through learning history, we can question, critique and ultimately build and imagine a more socially just world. On the weekends, she loves exploring parks, bakeries, and bookstores throughout Brooklyn with her two kids and partner!
